2018
In September I attended the European Shoulder Society (SECEC) meeting in Geneva.
A great learning experience. A valuable update on Shoulder Surgery and an opportunity to catch up with overseas colleagues.
I visited the LIMA Factory in Italy. A company that produces Reverse Shoulder Replacement implants and custom made implants for difficult Revision Surgery of the Shoulder.
I had the opportunity to perform a Shoulder Replacement in NZ with Dr Favorito a co-designer of the updated Delta XTend Reverse.
2017
In 2017 I shifted from working at Middlemore Hospital to Auckland City Hospital.
I had a busy CME year. I attended the following meetings.
- Mega Shoulder Symposium, Sydney.
- Delta Shoulder Symposium – 30 year Anniversary of the Reverse Arthroplasty, Melbourne. I presented a paper on "Notching in Reverse Arthroplasty."
- The New Zealand Shoulder and Elbow Society. I gave a paper on "Results of Late Biceps Tenodesis ."
- The Japan Shoulder Society, Tokyo.
2016
Advanced Reverse Shoulder Arthroplasty Course Stockholm 2016
In November I attended the Advanced Reverse Shoulder Arthroplasty Course in Stockholm, Sweden.
I also had the opportunity to spend a day in the operating room with Professor Anders Ekelund
Triathlon Knee Meeting Sydney 2016
In June I attended this Stryker Knee Meeting to discuss the results of Triathlon Knee Replacement which I have performed since it was released.
It is one of the top performing knees in The NZ Joint Registry.
ICSES Korea 2016
In May I attended the International Congress of Shoulder Surgeons ( ICSES ) in Jeju, Korea.
A very educational meeting. I had the opportunity to give a paper on “ The Complications of Reverse Shoulder Arthroplasty “.
As well I represented NZ as part of the Scientific Committee reviewing papers prior to this meeting.
Practice Visit 2016
In April I had my New Zealand Orthopaedic Association Practice Visit with Orthopaedic Surgeons Mr Grant Kiddle and Roy Craig from Wellington.
Enjoyable and a great result.
2013
New Zealand Shoulder and Elbow Society Meeting 2013
I am currently working as the Convenor of this meeting.
To date we have secured the attendance of 7 of the most respected Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons in the world.
This is promising to be a great meeting and arguably the best line up of Shoulder Surgeons ever assembled in Australasia.
2011
SECEC Travelling Fellowship 2011
In September of 2011, I was selected as a Travelling Fellow by the European Shoulder and Elbow Society.
I had the opportunity to attend the European Shoulder and Elbow Society meeting in Lyon, France.
After this I visited 5 centers of Shoulder Excellence in France, Denmark, Switzerland and Italy.
